5booksIn 1990 I wrote a romantic mystery which featured a black cat detective with an attitude, Familiar. My editor Harlequin Intrigue at the time was Tahti Carter. When Tahti read the book, she suggested that I turn Familiar into a series. And I did. For 17 books.

fear familiar 15Familiar, with his wisdom and skepticism about human intelligence, became one of the most popular characters I’ve ever created. His adventures have been translated into 18 languages and hundreds of thousands of copies of his books have been sold.

I’m now in the process of re-releasing Familiar’s adventures, starting here with the very first one, FEAR FAMILIAR. This is where it all began.

And this summer, I’ll introduce Trouble, son of Familiar, who has his own unique voice (think Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes). Trouble has inherited his father’s FamiliarTroubledetective skills—and slight contempt of the slow-thinking bipeds. Some of my writer friends are joining in the adventure to give you their take on Trouble. The new series of books will be called Familiar Legacy.

I’m thrilled to be back in this world with my wonderful black cat pals, Familiar and now Trouble.
