In 1990 I wrote a romantic mystery which featured a black cat detective with an attitude, Familiar. My editor Harlequin Intrigue at the time was Tahti Carter. When Tahti read the book, she suggested that I turn Familiar into a series. And I did. For 17 books.
Familiar, with his wisdom and skepticism about human intelligence, became one of the most popular characters I’ve ever created. His adventures have been translated into 18 languages and hundreds of thousands of copies of his books have been sold.
I’m now in the process of re-releasing Familiar’s adventures, starting here with the very first one, FEAR FAMILIAR. This is where it all began.
And this summer, I’ll introduce Trouble, son of Familiar, who has his own unique voice (think Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes). Trouble has inherited his father’s detective skills—and slight contempt of the slow-thinking bipeds. Some of my writer friends are joining in the adventure to give you their take on Trouble. The new series of books will be called Familiar Legacy.
I’m thrilled to be back in this world with my wonderful black cat pals, Familiar and now Trouble.

Carolyn, I’m so glad the Familiar books are being re-released, as I missed them the first time around. The new cover is stunning. And of course…cats…

I actually began reading this series when it was first released. I read #1-19. I love that cat and am delighted he has a son called Trouble. Looking forward to reading the rest of the Familar series. I’m beyond thrilled that it is being re-released.

As always, the story was excellent and I enjoy your work so much that I will always be a faithful reader. However, the book had many errors; particularly the use of close, but utterly incorrect words. Like the use of “clench” when “clinch” was the correct word. Several typos appear as well.
I don’t think you should publish this unless you edit my concerns. I simply expect the usual crisp and flawless editing I’ve received from the “Bones” series and definitely was distracted by all the errors.
Thank you for your time,
Melissa

I’m confused how many Familiar/Trouble series are there? Two
or Three? I’m trying to track down all
the titles and authors and I’m getting very confused. Some help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
